Do not overlook the Saturday tours !!

Wow. There are buckets of flavor in this one. I think the ABV is reported low (down below) I would say it was close to 8 definitely not 5.5. Personally, I'm a Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout kinda guy.

Absolutely would purchase this! AND I am very very picky about my beer purchases

This was a surprising highlight of a recent tasting at the brewery.
Much more tart and fruity than the first batch, which i'd previously rated a 3.5.

Opaque orange with frothy foam, has a juicy appearance. Spotty lace around the edges.
Aroma of freshly juiced grapefruit and a little bit of wet hay from the Brett yeast.
Taste is nearly puckering, a pleasant fruity tartness that has some grapefruit peel and juice behind it, as well as Brett yeast complexity. Wet hay, bone dry finish. Light to medium bodied with spritzy carbonation. More please. Seriously, where was this all summer?

Edit: bottles of this have been very dry with a fraction of the fruit character, seems like the draft review above was an experimental thing where they blended grapefruit juice in. Haven't had a similar experience with this beer since then, unfortunately.

750 ml bottle, with handwritten Batch #155 on the label. Another new big bottle to me from Lake Effect Brewing Co. Expectations are pretty good; I remember thoroughly enjoying their Lake Effect Brewing Brett Frambois.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a pale yellow; appears a cloudy golden orange-yellow in the glass with about a finger of frothy bubbly white head. Hardly any lacing, but still a nice appearance.

S - The aroma is fairly neutral, but pleasant. Some grassy / grainy / wheaty sort of generic "beer" smell with a clean citrus smell, but not what I would immediately identify as grapefruit. More of a lemon / rind character is what jumps out at me initially.

T - Taste follows the nose - a clean, natural grapefruit presence. Fleshy, with light bitterness. Not the grapefruit bitterness one would normally associate with an IPA or anything. Not what I would describe as tart, bretty, or yeasty at all, either. A very clean tasting fruit beer. The citric grapefruit is apparent, but again I'd associate it more with lemon or orange without knowing.

M - The feel is crisp & clean. Medium-bodied with nice light carbonation. Crisp and easy drinking.

Overall, a nice beer, but not nearly what I was expecting. I was hoping for more tart, but the grapefruit comes through very naturally and authentically. Worth picking up, but I would definitely say I enjoyed the Lake Effect Brewing Brett Frambois more.
