This might be the fruitiest barleywine I have ever had. Grapefruit, orange, clove, oak, barley, sweet malt and brown sugar are the first flavors detected. Has a gummy, woody and dusty consistency in the mouthfeel. Weird, and powerful, not something I need to have again, but helped a great cause and glad I got to try given the novelty.

Tasted in a Spiegelau lager glass from a 12 fl oz bottle on February 13, 2018. Brewed with oak chips from the Morton Arboretum and Wisconsin special-roast malts. Arbor Oak Amber Ale blends malt complexity with just enough hops for a citrus-spice finish. The slightly oaked character delivers a hint of warm vanilla.

Taste: sweet caramel malts, oak, hint of peach or orange peels, creamy mouthfeel. Mild malt and yeast bread nose. Amber/Orange color, hazy, delicate foam head. Medium body.

Oct. 2016:
Batch 3 (one-off)
They dry hopped it with Mosaic for FOBAB and it's a totally different beer.
Tastes like grapefruit juice blended with an oaked amber ale.
Super tasty and drinkable, juicy and delicious.
2015:
Brewed for the Morton Arboretum, using oak chips sourced from the Arboretum itself.
Dark mahogany brown, ample foam that had a khaki tone. Lasting retention, lacing in the glass.
Aroma was yeasty with a little bit of toasty malt, light woodiness.
Taste was slightly astringent from the wood, but pleasantly bitter in a way that suggested hops. Malt forward flavors, lightly toasted with chicory notes. Creamy feel, mellow and a pleasant quencher.
Described by the brewer as an English Brown with oak chips.
Thanks to Clint & co. for hosting at the brewery!
