9oz draft pour

Looks great in the glass. Dark red color with a very small white head.

Smell is sweet and sour. It's a little too cold to get a lot of complexity off the nose.

Taste is fantastic. Lots of dark fruit flavors complimented by barrel flavors. Cider and wine like (both red and white) qualities. Perfect balance of flavors.

Mouthfeel is very nice. Great tartness on the tongue

Fantastic barrel aged sour. Tons of complexity and balance. Very well done

poured caramel with tiny head reducing to ring

some scents of candy or fruit, also malt

decidedly sour, the tart from the wine masks the roast on the malts
then I get some roast as it warms

I bit rough on the tongue , looking for more sweetness tho.plenty of sour.
some sweetness comes out when warming

overall, a good beer from lake effect. I need more comparisons of the style tho

Aged 18 months in an Opus One wine barrel.

Lighter shade of brown, reddish with some clarity though slightly hazed. A froth of foam across the surface, but it soon fades to a ring around the edges. On the lighter side color wise, but similar to an unblended Rodenbach, Vin De Cereale came to mind.

Aromas of wet wood and cheesy funk, leathery Brett. Tart fruit, red currants maybe.
Taste had a pleasant mellow tartness, hint of acetic acid which didn't overpower. Creamy, supple feel, lower carbonation. It seemed like a good candidate for blending, adding funk and complexity components to a younger beer with more body and carbonation.

This was an interesting beer, and demonstrates an experimental direction to Lake Effect's barrel program. Thanks to Clint & co. for hosting at the brewery!
