Blueberries are ubiquitous in Michigan and Ontario and provide the color, sweetness, and acidic complexity to this light bodied tart ale. This is perfect summer drinking but can be enjoyed year around. Our Berliner base is kettle soured and fermented with Kolsch yeast. Blue berries are added in both the boil and in secondary fermentation.

I expected a much sweeter beer given the combination of a Weissbier and blueberries but it actually ended up being fairly sour. I guess it does say right on the label that it's soured with lacto so I should have expected it, but I'm not the most observant so there we go. Definitely sour, not super fruity. I have to admit it's not my favorite but it's solid nonetheless.

Oct. 2016: Strong vibes of blueberry yogurt. Heavy lacto and acidic blueberry, retains the character of blueberry well.

Opaque purplish color, pinkish foam, lingering spotty lacing.
Aromas of light sulfur, wheat, and fruit based acidic and lacto notes.
Taste is tart and fruity, noticeable natutal blueberry is present.
Light bodied, crisp and clean. Overall it's clean and easy drinking.
