Jet black body with mocha ring of foam. Smell is brighter than expected, with the fernet being very aromatic, with licorice, hazelnut, dark chocolate, sandalwood, and booze. Taste has all of those plus some almond, mint, and chicory, really pleasant, though an acquired taste that might not be for everyone. Feel is biting with the booze, but not burning, with smooth malts rounding out. Not the most complex, but yet in some sips you get more depth than expected.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Had 4/7/18.
Pours dark brown and opaque, with a half inch quickly dissipating head and some soapy lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, oak, chocolate, chicory, some caramel and licorice, light mint, a light herbal aroma. The taste follows along: malt, chocolate, oak, caramel, some licorice and chicory, oak, a light herbal flavor. Smooth, lightly creamy, a very good full body, well carbonated.
Let this one really warm up. The Fernet is subtle, but does have an impact. The licorice pops out first, the chicory and mint later. The base stout is solid. Very enjoyable and worth a purchase at a good price point.
