A madeira barrel aged imperial stout with Sumatra coffee.

12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Had 5/26/21.
Pours a dark brown, somewhat opaque, with a half inch quickly dissipating foamy head and light foamy lacing. Aromas of coffee, oak, grapes, smoke, some caramel and chocolate, brown sugar as it warms. Much the same flavors- coffee, grapes, malt, caramel, some chocolate and oak, light brown sugar, a little sweetness. Smooth, a very good medium to full body, appropriately carbonated.
Lots of terrific coffee, the Madeira barrels show best in the flavor, but not as impactful overall as expected. Still, the barrels contribute a lot to this. There’s some complexity here. Very enjoyable.
