We joined forces with our Chicago brethren from Pipeworks Brewing Company for this mashup of two of our favorite brands. Dogs Vs. Shinobi takes each breweries lead brand and mashes them together into a hazy, fruit forward, lower ABV offering. Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic hops and Guava Puree lend notes of fresh orange peel and other tropical characters. This will certainly be a battle for the ages!

Beautiful hazy IPA: opaque and nearly pulpy, lemon-yellow hue, great head production, nice lacing, and absolutely outstanding retention.
Nice hoppy nose: mango, guava, pineapple, orange, kitchen herbs, cream, and mild dankness. The guava puree doesn't particularly stand out, instead blending with the Mosaic and Citra on the nose.
Fairly light on the palate, with a noticeable but restrained juiciness. As with the nose, the guava isn't particularly prominent, although it does add a slight fruity acidity, and its presence builds just a little bit with each sip.
Smooth and creamy; fuller-bodied than the modest ABV would suggest.
A great, if not world-class, example of a NE-style IPA.

Appearance: Pours a thoroughly hazy, pale-toned orange-yellow body with minimal head formation, just an ultra slim sliver of white froth.
Smell: As is often the case, it has that undeniably heavy, raw, coarse grain nose of the hazy era. Tropical nose, aided by the puree, you've got florals, gooseberries, dry orchard fruits and hard candy, too.
Taste: Sweetish, fruity with the schtew of gloopy rustic grains providing an additional astringent, brackish hint. Tropical, citrusy with that altogether distinct pink guava note. Gooseberries, pearskins, florals, candies from the confectionary firm of Rancher, J. Also, a slight woodsy hint of shaved basswood. A bit of curt bitterness. And that, friends, is Dogs vs. Shinobi.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Passable.

Poured from a 16oz can dated 6/24/19 to a Nonic.
Completely opaque orange haze beneath a healthy .7" head that fades to medium lacing.
Aroma is mild fruit, the guava is present under a must dank aroma.
Guava with citrus rind greats the tongue and it goes from sweet to dank to dry.
Mouth feel is medium and carbonation appropriate.
Decent beer.

Pours a hazy dark orange with fine, soft foam.
Smell is juicy and slightly tart with notes of papaya, pineappe and guava.
Taste is fruity and juicy, but the tartness of the guava clashes a bit with the bitterness, which isn't strong, but powerful enough to take over a bit.
Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.
Overalll, a decent beer, which is a little bit too bitter to work with the fruit.

Canned 6/14/19
Decent foamy thicker smaller head with great retention, soapy lacing, hazy cloudy pale orange color
Nose is a little green spicy chewy hop character, but plenty of citrus, orange juice, little mango, mild generic tropical, papaya, light doughy malt
Taste sweet doughy malt out front, plenty of suspended proteins wheat or flaked, then big hops, surprisingly some strawberry, big citrus, orange, tangerine, mango sherbet, generic tropical, papaya, little pineapple, big guava, creamy and very juicy like mango orange puree, not chalky or green, mild bitterness, drier finish, lingering loads of guava
Mouth is medium bod, creamy juicy, medium lighter carb
Overall surprisingly quite good, even during the age of all NEIPAs and I'm burnt out on them, this still stands out
