Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours black as night with some light brown head. Extensive lacing. The nose is full of peanut butter and lactose. Some chocolate comes through as well.

The taste is really good. Tons of peanut butter, chocolate, brown sugar, banana, and toffee. My only knock on this beer is the sweetness. It's a bit overpowering. There is some pretty strong bitterness as well, but they don't seem to balance each other overly well. Still really nice.

Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Overall, a really enjoyable beer.

Deep dark color with no light passing. Lasting, but small, head with good lace retention in the form of a multitude of spots.

Strong cocoa nips to the nose. No notable coffee and no noteworthy alcohol warmth.

The chocolate is dark with some warm alcohol notes. Very thick body with ample carbonation to cut through the richness. No black patent malt burnt element and no coffee. Overall, this is pretty sweet although the chocolate doesn't seem to be that way. The combination becomes similar to a near dessert beer.

Fantastic head production; decent retention. Beer is overall attractive, but better legs on the foam would be a plus.

Unsurprisingly, there's quite a lot going on with the aroma. Banana comes out during the pour, while up close, additional notes of peanut butter, chocolate, roast, toast, molasses, brown sugar, and coconut. Just a touch metallic, but not distractingly so.

Not as thick on the palate as you might expect for a beer with an additive list on par with any pastry stout. Similarly, it's not as sweet or dessert-like. In all other respects, however, this hits the mark.

Peanut butter and chocolate come together quite well, along with an accent of toasted coconut, all against a strong roasted malt base. I don't get any banana beyond the yeast expression. Quite nutty on the back half.

This is a very tasty beer, but it could do with less bitterness, and more rich sweetness. The banana and vanilla are non-factors, and the coconut, while tasty, serves to amplify the roasty bitterness. It's very good, but I had hoped for greatness, and it falls well shy of that mark.
