The beer pours a jet black with half an inch of a dense white head topping off my nonic. The nose is weak with a slight, almost hidden roastiness and no bitterness. The taste is an improvement with a lot more of the roast and bitterness, but not much else. The mouthfeel is medium with a lingering roastiness and bitterness. It's a beer that comes in strong and finishes dry, true to style with the high(ish) abv an exception. It's not my favorite porter, but it's drinkable and bold.

Had this on opening weekend. The brewing company itself is a nicely renovated cold storage building with a mix of old and new blended together. At that time only three beers were available (more coming soon). The beers were a porter, IPA and amber.
I started with the porter and found it to be nice dark black color with a small white head. Very typical for a porter. The smell was not too nutty nor was it strong in anyway. It did have a hint of, perhaps, wintergreen smell. (this will be argued I am sure) The taste was carmelly and reminiscent of most other porters I have had. Not a strong tasting beer and it went down very smooth. My wife, who does not like dark beers, mentioned she could tolerate that one.
Overall, it was a good beer. I would not rank it in my top porters, but a solid upper middle beer. I will have it again and presumably more times than that.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
