Have had on tap on a couple of occasions, and this is definately a different take on the Pumpkin Ale style. Definately not as sweet as I was expectintg, especially in comparison to some of the other Pumkin Ales that pop up arond Christmas time. Instead, it's very heavy on the nutmeg flavor, which as long as you're expecting it can be quite enjoyable. Definately not a sessional beer, can only enjoy a pint of two before the flavors become too overpowering. However, they should be commeneded for a very ambitious Pumpkin Ale, which I'm sure will only improve over time as they tweak with the recipie.

Draft pint from this new Alberta brewery.
This beer arrived a clear, orange bronze, with a tight off-white head. Good looking lace, foam lasted nicely.
It smells of pumpkin right at the start, some clove, cinnamon.
Taste has more sweetness than hops. Pumpkin pie spices, clove, cinnamon, brown sugar.
Minimal floral hop bitterness to finish.
The body is medium, smooth, dry, aftertaste of the pie spices.

A pint from this nascent Alberta brewery, on-tap at the Sugar Bowl. The rep has indicated to me that they've hopped this thing to the nuts. Bring it on!
This beer appears a clear dark bronzed amber hue, with a single frothy finger of thin tight bubbly off-white head, which renders some nice ice rime lace lace around the glass as it quickly burns off.
It smells strongly of semi-sweet vegetal pureed pumpkin flesh, pungent clove, metallic spicy cinnamon, brown sugar, a subdued caramel malt, some sharp citrus rind, and leafy, almost minty hops. The taste is more astringent pumpkin pie vegetal character, persistent, steely clove and cinnamon, with some ginger and nutmeg notes that may just be a reverberation of the main spices, a seemingly weak bready caramel malt, and leafy, somewhat floral hops.
The bubbles are average - not really noticeable, not really absent, the body medium-light in weight, and mostly smooth - the edgy spice almost sparing us here. It finishes mostly dry, the attendant spice, fading semi-sweet pumpkin mash, and understated hops loosely conspiring as such.
An interesting pumpkin beer, nowhere near as hoppy as expected, but that is totally lost in the mire of the uber-spice, whose prevalence produces a heady sort of heat of its own. As this is supposed to be produced year-round, it will be a strange, yet likely engaging thing to see come spring. Or summer. Or probably fall for me.
