Canned 8/18/21. Let me preface this review by saying that blueberries are one of my least favorite fruits so this coming off the bat it didn’t really interest me but the dedication to a local RI landmark made it a must buy for me. Pours a dark reddish purple with a lot of head, not sure if I shook the can too much before hand or what but it slowly faded. Smells completely of blueberry which was a red flag to me. The flavor is overwhelmingly blueberry but complimented with the vanilla which pulls away from the tart flavor I expected and makes it a smooth mouth feel. Overall this was an impressive brew for me, definitely surprised me and something I’d be willing to try again.

Alright we’ve got another weird one here. A NEIPA conditioned on blueberries, not really a combo you see except for some light blueberry notes in Mosaic hopped beers. There’s vanilla bean in here too for good measure. Regardless, I’m excited to see how this one works out. It’s just of course named after a staple of Rhode Island, the big blue bug that overlooks I-95 in Providence. A nice tribute to the state
Pours a cloudy deep maroon with 3 fingers of soapy pink tinted head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimL lacing
This thing is absolutely loaded with blueberry in the nose, giving a real pie vibe. I’m picking up on aromas of jammy blueberry, sweet vanilla, juicy mango, graham cracker, blueberry candy, doughy malt, and light lemon
I would say that in taste the blueberry feels more authentic and less like candy or dessert. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting juicy blueberry, tart lemon, bready malt, resiny hops, and light pineapple. The swallow brings notes of juicy blueberry, mango, very strong french vanilla, and doughy malt
A medium full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth and creamy beer. Finishes off dry with a decent sweet/tart balance
This is one of those beers that’s just good for the novelty. I couldn’t drink this too often, but what I had I quite enjoyed
