$3.79
Lovely looking beer poured into my tulip glass..black body with a gorgeous frothy/rocky tan head..handsome.
Aromas..dark dried fruit .presumably figs..coffee, dark sea salted chocolate..a little ash/earth in the back groun. Nice.
Taste has more fig and creamy lactose aspect..creamy fig flavored latte.. Bitter dark salt chocolate, finishes off with hazelnut and earthy. Fantastic .
Mouth feel is full and creamy smooth..very litle notice of the 9% alcohol..except in the very end.
Overall and excellent drinkable ( yes for 9%) IMpy..enjoyable and at a reasonable price.

16oz can
An aggressive pour yields about two fingers of light brown head into my nonic. Pretty creamy looking. Head retention so far is above average, after 3 or 4 minutes a solid half finger remains. Initial lacing looks fantastic. Body is black with some hues of dark brown around the edges. Looks very nice so far.
Some tart fruits are present on the nose, not what I think of when I imagine figs, but no biggie. Roasty, maybe a tiny note of bitter chocolate. Has almost a British malt profile/yeast character. While it does smell pretty velvety, and a little sweet, overall it has the smell of a well attenuated, euro esque beer. Overall a little tart, well attenuated, smells good, curious how it will come through on the taste.
Flavor is a lot richer than I expected. Tartness is definitely here, but it’s accompanied by a good amount of sugars, as well as a hefty roast and small booze bite in the finish. Pretty damn flavorful, and somewhat complex. While moderate, I’m not crazy about the tartness. And at 9% I can’t complain too much, but I would probably prefer to do without the booze tinge as well, though it is soothing. I’ll let this warm, for now it’s a good flavor, not perfect.
Body is relatively light, not very chewy, could be improved upon there. While this is definitely an American level of sugars, it’s not over the top, they don’t linger at all. Tartness is pretty forward, and probably hides what sugars are here. Carbonation is pretty light. Again, pretty lively mouthfeel, but it isn’t perfect.
Drinkability isn’t bad. Even though I’m not crazy about the tart and booze, they are small inconveniences, and overall this is enjoyable.
The appearance turned out quite nice. Lacing was very thick. The head eventually dissipated completely, but had good retention overall. Good looking beer.
Not much changed as the beer warmed. Overall this is a nice beer, but the tart and boozy finish leave a little to be desired.
