Kind of a beautiful dark brown with a ruby tint, mostly clear despite being dark with some haziness. Aroma is a light toffee, caramel maltiness. Maybe a touch of hops, but that might be fooling myself. Flavor is quite oaky, but not astringent. Slightly too oaky for me, but it will probably age out nicely. Caramel and toffee flavors, with some fig and grape notes. I always have troubles distinguishing the toffee notes from diacetyl in these beers, but is remniscient of a JW Lees almost. Malt forward, with a mild hop character. Oakiness and alcohol provide balance. Not super carbed, almost undercarbed for a belgian, though maybe im not familiar enough with this style. Expected more of a dry finish, slightly sweeter than i prefer. I think itll age really well. Bottle 11
