so many surprises in this one, i absolutely loved it, but it totally caught me off guard. i am not sure i have seen belgian yeast in one of these new school brut ipa types yet, but it makes perfect sense, the traditional vinous and fruity esters from the yeast all play well with dry spaces, high carbonation, and juicy hops, i cant believe this hasnt been more common. i love how they have assembled this. secondly, the alcohol strength is shocking to see here, this drinks so light and easy, i never would have pegged it to be so strong, wow. finally, there are some interesting additives in here, kaffir lime leaf or something, insanely fragrant limey, as well as an earthy, juicy, floral lemongrass complexion, almost a thai herb character, not at all subtle, but incredibly compatible with the selected hops for this one and seemingly adding to the refreshment value. this is a brut ipa at its core, i get a lot of hops on it, wonderful liveliness, and striking dryness for a beer so strong, but it is also a lot of other things. i love the fragrant lime element, it really clings to the effervescence and permeates the tongue. fun and flavorful beer, complex for the style, yet with gorgeous balance. love the belgian yeast, in fact i love everything about this. not to be missed!
