I love coffee. I love beer. I don’t love this coffee beer.
The smell is very strong coffee, which I kind of like. Unfortunately, the taste was just as strong coffee, drowning out the rest of the beer flavor.

Had a crowler canned 10 days ago.
L: A deep dark brown pour with ruby highlights produces as persistent, lacy light tan foam cap.
S: Moderate coffee and grain aromas with no appreciable hop showing through, a trace of dark dried fruit. No burnt or harsh aromas.
T: A mild sweet caramel supports rich and long lingering coffee flavors. A mild bitterness with nothing burnt or harsh. Well balanced.
F: Creamy smooth with medium to medium full body and medium carbonation.
O: A well balanced easy to drink coffee porter.

i thought this was excellent. a bit thin as porters go, which for me hurt the overall richness of the beer, i like a little more meat on these, especially with the coffee. more to cling t and hang on to, but thats really my only criticism. the malt base is nice, a solid roast on it, soil and wet earth thing going on, with nutty notes, almond maybe, and that marries really well with the coffee, which is not over done at all, but rather blended in expertly. it doesnt overtake the beer. that nutty thing is a little sweet in the flavor, but its like a flavored creamer or something in a cup of joe, so it works. there isnt quite enough bitterness on the back end for it to all the way resolve, but it gets near it, and the coffee lingers pleasantly for awhile. i wish there was a little more coffee to it as well, its not super subtle, but it also doesnt give much of a caffeine hit, and most of the flavor of it comes on really late. overall though a really tasty porter that i think has four season versatility due to its lighter body.
