awesome beer here, a long cellared bottle now from 2017, collaboration with jester king and local option, not sure where i scored this, but it was a cool one to crack after running through some of the other jester king raspberry beers. this one is much stronger and also has some sea buckthorn blended in, cool! orangey pink color to this, some moderate viscosity for a sour, short lived white fizz on top but stays well carbonated through the drink, some serious sediment in the bottom inch or so of the bottle. aroma here of tangy berries, light oxidation, bacterial weirdness, almost a medicinal funk to it but not like lambic, and the obvious tang of the sea buckthorn, even though its not specifically identifiable as such to my nose. the flavor is well rounded, some wheat apparent in the base, quite a bit of oak on it too, almost a red wine barrel aged taste to me, although im not sure what its aged in. tannic and tart, even sharp, but short of acetic, both fruits seem to add their natural acidity to the fermentation sourness as well. some wildness here too though, and this is not like other jester king beers, different culture or capture here for sure, maybe a blend, and with the long maturation there is no telling if this was this sour when it was first released. it seems just slightly tired, like the berries dont make it fresh and summery or anything, and the grain seems faded. i like the structure though, the soda carbonation fits it, and the alcohol is well hidden. a strange and eccentric brew, neat collaboration, quite sour, but also really enjoyable. hints of red grape, red rose, and minerals to close. cool beer.

A complex and elegant sour ale fermented in oak barrels with house cultures from both Jester King and Brekeriet.
Raspberries and sea buckthorn was added to the final blend.

Nice tart light raspberry taste, dry yet heavy mouthfeel, nice white head, funky, light oaky taste.
