Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep golden color with a fizzy head of white foam. The head fades very fast, leaving but a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The smell is strong of a corn -syrup and caramel smell mixed with some light graininess and a bit of hay. True to the malt liquor aroma come, other light metallic aromas and some cardboard are there as well.
Taste – The taste follows the nose rather well. It begins with a sweet corn and cracker malt flavor mixed with a bit of caramel sweetness. At the same time there is a touch of grain and a tiny bit of grape and peach. These tastes all take the taste to the end, where they are joined by a bit of the cardboard and paper that were in the nose.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness with a carbonation level that is somewhat moderate. To be true to the style and flavors more carbonation and a thinner body would have been better, producing a more slamable brew.
Overall – A sweeter malt that has a decent flavor. The feel really let me down. And for the price (still not bad at 2.99 for a stovetop), I would go with a standard, non-crafty malt. More bang for the buck.
