16 oz. nonic at the brewery
(July 30, 2016)
L: murky orange-gold, 100% opaque; thick head of offwhite/beige foam, about 1/2-inch tall and will not dissipate ... and it's super sticky; some lacing leaves a cool pattern; 80% skin about 1/3 in and thick beige collar
S: malty floral orange ... the malt is pushing out a sweet bready donut aroma; hints of earthy orange peel, maybe some lemon peel; softer and sweeter than the flavor, much like a sweet orange
T: BITTER first bite, floral and citrusy, the floral adding the bitter and the grapefruit/orange citrus notes adding flavor; some biscuit malt sweetness for balance; bittersweet ornage with rose petal floral finish
F: midweight, tons of small bubble carbonation ... I love it, though it could be a bit too much carbonation for some
O: yet another great brew from Lone Pint and another example of their expertise with the American IPA -- loads of malt, loads of hops, loads of flavor

On tap at D&T Drive Inn.
A: Pours a murky, nearly opaque like golden/orange haze. A two finger white head forms with good retention and lace.
S: Fruity hops, that are slightly spicy. Orange/citrus peal, and some malts in the background. Lightly sweet malts, lightly buttery, then the hops come back into play. Finishes with a bit of bitterness.
T: Like the nose spicy, citrus hops up front with a bit of bitterness. Malts come next, that are sweet ad slightly sugary, slightly buttery. Bitterness in the finish. Enjoyable.
M/O: A medium body with moderate carbonation. Finishes very smooth. Enjoyable to drink, if nothing particularly exceptional. Not that that is a bad thing. I will have no issue drinking more of this.
A good single hop IPA, if nothing exceptional. From the pour I got, this is almost in the "New England Hazy IPA" category. Though knowing Lone Pint, the next keg or pour I see will be completely bright and clear. Regardless, a good IPA that does not quite make it to Yellow Rose status IMO.

Keg straight from the brewery, enjoyed in Memorial Park, Houston, Texas. Yellow Rose has a challenger. Lovely appearance and head, fruity nose, hop character a bit milder but more fruity than Yellow Rose, with medium body. Definitely the best of the Zythophile series that I've had.
