The restaurant menu didn't list this as a "black IPA" so the appearance was a little surprising. Dark brown/near black in appearance. Nice hoppy nose and the flavor is...wonderful! Must be just enough roasted grains to darken it because the overall impression is not that of a black beer. Nicely balanced and expertly brewed beer. Does Lone Pint make any bad beers? I don't think so! And is it arrogant to make a "tribute beer" that is so obviously superior to the brew that it is intended to pay homage to? Maybe...
