Poured from an expensive (15$) fancy looking bottle.
Dark yellow color in the glass with thin head that disappears almost immediately. Aroma of sharp citrus like five alive. Strong citrus fruit in flavor, like a vitamin C punch with a hint of salt. Very low carbonation.
***While certainly different, the cost is prohibitive (due in no small part to the unique bottle) and also feel this would be better enjoyed in a smaller serving although the argument can be had it would be great for sharing. Regardless, i don't think i'll be purchasing it again***

It should first be noted that this is not going to be like any other beer. It is supposed to be as close as it gets to the original 2000 year-old Gaulish recipe of cervoise. It is completely devoid of any hops, and so the cervoise will feel flat in comparison to many other beers that share most of its principal notes.
It is foremost quite floral and citrusy to the nose, and has the flavours to follow that. As mentioned, there is no hoppiness whatsoever, and it is quite malty. The head is very weak and disappears almost right away, and there is no lacing whatsoever. I would say the mouthfeel is probably this cervoise's weakest feature as it is quite watery and uninteresting.
Overall I quite liked this as it is unusual and unlike anything else I had had before. I can completely understand someone not liking this for the very same reason as it breaks many of the "rules" one unconsciously expects before taking the first sip of an unknown beer. If the brewers are to be believed, this is as close as it gets to Astérix and Obélix's original evening brew, and I quite like it.

L: cloudy golden color. Very little head, dissipates quickly. No lacing.
S: Herbal, spicey. I really have little idea what went into this put it does seem somehow reminiscent to pumpkin pie. Ginger is also pretty prominent. Maybe a bit perfume like.
T: On the palate I get some sort of wet hay/ barnyard funkiness that I couldn't get on the nose. Ginger comes through as well. A bit citrusy. Finishes with a musty sort of tang. Malt comes through as slightly sweet, but pretty laid back. Really no alcohol presence at all.
F: Pretty much flat. Very thin too.
O: This doesn't really seem like a beer, or an alcoholic beverage at all. The best way I could describe it is as a slightly flat herb/spice soda. It's orginal for sure, but not my thing, and I would never, ever pay the price I did for it if I knew this is what I was getting into. Disappointing yet intriguing...
