Purchased this beer at Domaney's in Great Barrington, Mass.
Appearance: clear cola colered brown, with some copper color when held to the light. The head is a 1 inch off white, which dissapated fairly quickly, Minimal lacing on the glass.
Smell: More caramel malt than smoke. Would not have suspected it was a Rauchbier based on smell, but still, very pleasant.
Taste: Definately smoky flavor, but not overpowering. Unfortunately, there is not much depth of flavor and there is no lingering aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Somewhat thin, and thre is a seltzer like effervescience at the end
Overall: I am not a big Rauchbier fan, but I had no problem drinking this beer. Fans of the style may see this as a watered down version, but I actually enjoyed drinking this beer.
