In my younger years I was a farm kitty down in Kentucky. When I wasn’t mousing for vermin, I’d lend a paw to the local bourbon distillery, selecting only the finest US grown barley and corn for our mashes to age in freshly charred American oak barrels. Since then, bourbon barrels have become a must when aging my Imperial stout.

From a 0.5l bottle, costing $14.00 at The Beer Store (Nashua)....
Pours an oily, opaque, dense black. Has a frothy, deep beige head, starting at 3/4" but ebbing rapidly to a thin, fine covering. Lacing is relatively light, for the most part. Aroma has some dark choco, cocoa powder, dark fruit and some light bourbon. Body is easily medium, bordering on med-plus, and it is satiny smooth going down.
Flavor has a mix of dark choco, raisins and figs, cocoa, and some subtle licorice. Lurking behind the curtain of these flavors is some subtle bourbon. Finishes somewhat on the dry side, with a bit of earthy action. Solid! Prosit!
