Brilliant sunset burnt orange in color with a thin champagne head that quickly dissipates. A symphony of velvety caramel-cream, charred oak vanillins, almond toffee, bing cherries, papaya fruit leather, and a hint of bitter dark chocolate with a warming finish.

One of my Christmas gifts this season was a 3-pack of 603 Barleywines - from 2022, '23 and '24. Taking care of 2023 right now, on a lazy, cold Saturday afternoon.....

Poured into a sniftah, it's a clear, rich, ruby-garnet colored libation. Has steady, fine carbo within, and a very thin, wispy layer of light tan foam up top. Lacing is on the light side, but the color is exquisite. Aroma is heavy on dark fruit, like black cherry, dates, figs and grapes. Also finding some subtle notes of caramel and toffee, plus some Bourbon action. Body is nicely medium-plus and chewy, and the feel is smooth as silk on the tongue.

Flavor? Oooh, quite tasty! Has a healthy dose of toffee and caramel laying down a semi-sweet base. Has a bit of caramelized brown sugar mixed in as well. Then some more dates, figs and earthy, subtly floral hopping. Lastly, there's that touch of Bourbon lurking in the background. Has a slightly warming feel going down and in the belly. Solid and well-made! Cheers!
