2023 release
Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with Madagascar & Tahitian vanilla beans
Mitzy’s Story: "In 2012, I jumped on “9 Lives & Me” ancestry; lo and behold, I discovered I’m descended from a notorious ship cat who sailed aboard a pirate vessel that disappeared with a treasure trove. We set sail to find my inheritance and landed on the island of Taha’a. While no doubloons were found, we struck gold when I set a paw on the secret vanilla orchids. This adventure inspired my Vanilla Bean Mitz."

2025 version, purchased yesterday at 603....
Poured into a sniftah, it's oily, dense and black as a winter's night. Has a creamy tan head which ebbs down to a wispy, thin layer and some rim foam. Lacing is mostly just a wish. Bourbon notes waft forth in the aroma, followed by dark choco, coffee and some vanilla. Body is somewhat chewy and easily medium-plus. It flows smoothly and lightly over the tongue as well.
Flavor has some lovely semisweet malt action. Has rich, dark choco, some subtle coffee, a smidge of molasses, vanilla bean and, lastly but not least, a nice layer of bourbon. Goes down quite easily and gives little hint that it sits at 11.9% ABV.
A nice brew to relax with while watching some football and celebrating my 67th..... Prost!!

Giving some love to this brewery that gets very little attention 603 Brewery. The Mitz series is always a treat and they take extra care, aged for 18 months and the price feels like a steal for the quality.
Poured into a 20 oz tulip glass bottled late 2023. Pours a very attractive near pitch black with a finger plus mocha head that leaves little if any lace. 4.5
Aroma starts with vanilla beans and clearly the star, but the woody bourbon lends a nice hand. Back strap molasses, coffee grounds, and deep dark chocolate. 4.5
Taste follows vanilla, cocoa, coffee, molasses, and a healthy shot of bourbon in the lingering finish. 4.5
Mouthfeel is slightly above average, soft gentle carbonation, a tad dry, and at 11.9% it goes down very easy. 4
Overall this really well made, if I wanted to change anything it could use a bigger body and better retention so it leaves a little lace. 4.25
