This addition to our lineup fills the need for a lighter bodied, easy-drinking beer. The Rhode Scholar is a smart beer that is both approachable and complex. Each sip illuminates your palate with subtle citrus flavor and light peppery notes on the finish. The Scholar can be enjoyed while mowing the lawn, just chatting with friends or when impressing your Alma Mater.

Big bubble head that settles quickly. No lace except for a couple of spots. Gold color and absolutely clear.

Sour and earthy. Low malt level.

Soft pale malt start. The finish has a strong berry finish. Very rich body, especially for the style. Lowly carbonated. A touch white pepper in the aftertaste.

On-tap 12/2/2012 at Track 84, in Warwick, RI served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains light caramelized malts, some fruit and some hops.

T: The taste starts out with a mild malt and fruit sweetness. Then a hearty but not too heavy malt character comes in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a very nice lighter beer to pound down for a long time.
