750ml corked and caged bottle #92. I held on to this for a year prior to opening it. Poured into a tulip, the brew appears black in color with huge mocha colored pillow of head that remains frothy atop the black liquid.
This smells solvent and roasty just like the rye version. Where it deviates is with a pleasant vinous addition. The vinous character is also present in the taste with chocolate-like goodness and some minerals carbonics before a lasting bitterness with earthy leather.
This is light in body with effervescent carbonation. Not a bad brew but not as amazing as I was expecting. Would certainly enjoy another bottle of this but I think I would age it even further to let the flavors mingle.
