This special beer is in honor of our 8th Anniversary and a tribute to our hometown of Stratford, CT. The label, designed by local artist Alex Harris, depicts our brewery amidst Stratford’s remarkable forest-to-shore scenery. Brewed with the aptly named Strata Hop, this hazy, juicy IPA is the perfect way to toast our hometown... or yours! Cheers to 8 great years!

It's a NEIPA that's the color of a dark lemonade and it's opaque. The head is modest and almost pure white. It seems to be enduring. Because of the limited head, the contents of a pint can just fit inside a clear glass Imperial pint mug. Because of the heavy presence of oats and/or wheat, the aroma is muted. Mildly candy-like, there's really nothing more happening for the nose. For the mouth, this falls short in several ways. First, it's almost tasteless. There's absolutely no malt and there are mass produced American adjunct beers with the same level of hoppiness. Some of those also bring at least the same body. There's no reason to try to find references to what little taste there is within this. The trend seems to be to remove all barley malt and hoppiness from an "IPA" and call it New England style. But there are so many great New England IPAs that have a malty backbone and deliver some hoppy goodness. Has anyone ever heard of The Alchemist, out of Vermont? The mild glass lacing can't salvage this waste of beer drinking. It might be among the worst and least worthy to describe itself as any style of an IPA. An educated guess is this is a wheat based "IPA", since it's so characterless. Sometimes making something with the purpose to not offend anyone becomes a greater offense.

16 oz. Can
BBE 28 OCT 22
Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice cloudy pale yellow color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango, peach), nice little diesel like. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango, peach), nice little diesel like. Medium body, ABV is hidden very well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty beer. Orange Julius! Addictive! Milk Shake!

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a hazy golden body beneath a massive head of fluffy bright white foam that seems to be holding quite well. The aroma is somewhat limited, but fresh with sweetish berries and non-specific citrus. The flavor carries that through. The malt isn't that rich but it is nice. There's more to the hops than the aroma suggests, but again, it isn't that strong. The berry remains, as does the citrus which I still can't pinpoint. It's kind of a mix of orange and dull grapefruit. Some might say it's also a touch "dank". It's not that bitter, but it is dry once the delicately sweetish malt erodes. Not surprisingly, there's not a lot to the finish. It lingers shortly but there's not much there, mainly just residual passionfruit. In the mouth it's light-medium in body and gently crisp. The head held up fairly well at first, and then dropped, and then picked up and held well again when I added the last of the can so that was good but I was quite surprised that the lacing was limited. That's odd, and it hurts it on appearance. So what to say about this overall? It's light and refreshing, and super easy to drink - which can be dangerous at 7% ABV. I just don't think I'd really be that interesting in having a second one as it's not that flavorful, unless of course it was a hot day and I was just drinking and drinking, like at a ball game or something. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just not all that.

Goes great with Byrds Younger Than Yesterday. Mellow, yet tasty. We need more reviews people. This one needs an official rating.

Had on tap at the brewery. Pours hazy, pale gold in color with minimal head. Taste is wet hops, tangerine, light orange. Medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter. A beer worthy of the name to represent this great town. Will get this when in town.
