An evil twist on our scary good pumpkin ale. The Roadsmary’s Baby has its newest sibling, Roadsmary’s Spawn. Roadsmary’s Spawn was brewed up with maple and pecan to compliment the pumpkin ale with vanilla and spices. It’s a spooky good medley of fall flavors.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a dark chestnut color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pumpkin, maple. Taste follows the aroma, subtle flavors. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

16oz can poured into a goblet
A- pours a deep chestnut/ember color with a one-finger foamy off-white head that reduces to a ring around the glass
S- slightly nutty with malty caramel, brown sugar and brown bread. Light notes of cinnamon & nutmeg. Light vanilla emerges as it warms
T- malty brown sugar and caramel up front with notes of nutty fruit cake. Mid-palate gives cinnamon and nutmeg, along with a vanilla note emerging. The finish gives caramel ad pumpkin spices
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns slightly creamy into the finish

16 oz can split with my wife, poured into wine glasses. Appearance is a clear dark yellow color with an off-white head. Aroma and flavor feature sweet maple, moderate pumpkin pie spice, and caramel malt. Maybe the pecans add something, maybe they don't - I can't really tell. Regardless, it's a very tasty and highly drinkable maple pumpkin beer.

Pours murky, dark mahogany in color with two inch head. Taste is big pumpkin spice, cinnamon, clove, with maple brown sugar and barrel. Medium body, high carbonation, slightly sweet. Different from Southern Tier Pumpking but so in that realm.

Nice dark amber mahogany appearance.
Medium bodied with Medium carbonation and a slight syrupy feel.
Aroma is real maple syrup, nut,French toast,
Taste is maple and nut, bready, sweet but not cloying with Mild spice
I wasn't thinking this was going to be good but its one of there best beers. Actually flavorful without making it a spice bomb

It's a nice pour to empty the contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. There's a proper off-white head, with a hint of beige. The brew is brown-amber, bright and somewhat translucent. It is very aromatic, with ginger, clove, vanilla and even a little cinnamon to smell. That's not saying they're all in there to taste. It tastes OK, like it smells. There's plenty of clove, especially at the finish, as well as some ginger and perhaps some other spices. The claim on the label of maple and pecan inclucsion may be disputed. There is a hint of the nut, but nothing here that tastes maple, just sugary. Maybe for a beer, in this category. that's not a bad thing. It's ambitious to try to create a brew that's got both pumpkin and pecan pie spices in one brew. Credit there, but this one just doesn't work well enough to get that done.

From the pint can, it pours a clear dark amber color with a modest light tan/off-white head that slowly reduces. The nose gets a variety of scents: pecan, pumpkin, cinnamon and possibly a little maple. The mouth follows with a solid wallop of flavor combining the above, which blends over time and leaves a mild aftertaste.

Pours a deep amber. Thick tan foam. Bready malt aroma. Pumpkin spice and cinnamon body. More spice than sweet. Light sweet maple finish. Didn't really taste the pecan which is too bad. The pecan would have really brought it together. Good but a little disappointing.

Two Roads Brewing Co. "Roadsmary's Spawn"
16 fl. oz. can "BBE 25JAN25" and sampled on 3 September 2024
$4.25 @ Wegmans, King of Prussia, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: I'm assuming that this is a dessert beer but maybe I'm wrong. It's pretty strong at 7.5% ABV. It's labeled as a malt beverage with natural and artificial flavors and caramel coloring. It's poured a clear chestnut brown with a bit of a reddish sheen to it. Crimson and gold highlights can be seen within. There's not a lot of carbonation to it but the head is a decent size and yellowed-tan in color. Lots of caramel and maple greet you in the nose along with a swirl of spice that includes cinnamon and ginger but I'm not sure what else. On to the taste... I can't say that I'm finding pecan but there's something there. Otherwise it's definitely got maple to it, and the pumpkin pie spices aren't overdone. It's sweet but balanced, and although it does lean towards a dessert beer - how could it not? - I think you could just drink this as a pumpkin beer. At this point the head has dwindles completely and there are only a few tiny dots and splashes of lacing left behind. Spice and caramel linger after the swallow and I'm getting vanilla and a touch of nutmeg. It's actually quite nice. In the mouth it's medium bodied and dextrinous, and quite smooth with a very moderate carbonation level. I think that the alcohol somehow saves this beer. It helps to balance it and at least gives you a little bit of bang for your buck. I normally only drink pumpkin beers on Halloween night, and depending on the trick or treaters you get you sometimes need a little something extra.
