Style: Hefeweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Brewmaster Phil Markowski has taken a “bahn” less traveled to create our version of the classic Bavarian wheat brew –perfect for the warming temperatures. Beautifully cloudy with a generous head of foam, a wonderful fruit aroma and a dry finish, our Hefeweizen is a refreshing version of the original; with just a little bit more of everything.

Pretty good Hefeweizen!!! Poured from a pint can into an Aventinus Weizen glass, it features a hazy gold color, average size bubbly white head with better than average retention and no lacing. Aroma is the weak part of the beer, a little lemon and a little cloves. Very faint. Flavor is more robust. Lemon and cloves/bubblegum, some wheat bitterness, overall a prety tasty hefe. Mouthfeel is a bit on the light side but the cloves and wheat play nicely on the tongue. A fine summertime thirst quencher and true to style.

Poured from a can into a glass.

Overall: a good and enjoyable hefe. Really good flavor that was middle of the road as far as strength and pungency. Nothing too off or unpleasant.

Look: cloudy, tawny, and effervescent with a decent white head that dissipated completely.
Smell: phenolic, some banana/clove as expected.
Taste: good taste. Those fruity phenols of a classic hefe. A slightly tart wheat finish. Flavors are good and present, but not in your face.
Feel: dry. Bubbly at first, but fell flat by the end.

A: hazy; pale gold in color; 1 finger finely pored white head that receded to a thin collar; no lacing;

S: clove, banana, bread;

T: follows the nose for a moment, then clove dominates through the finish; mild bitterness at the end;

M: light to medium bodied; moderate, slightly prickly, carbonation; lightly dry finish;

O: easy drinking;

This is a fairly clear (for a hefeweizen) beer that features a very strong banana and clove profile, combined with a fairly thin mouthfeel. Very mild carbonation bite.

Very carbonated. Golden somewhat hazy color. Quick forming foamy head. Spicy aroma. Somewhat heavier and thicker to drink than say a lager but not in any bad way. It’s quite pleasant going down. The can declares “a bit of rye” and I do get that. Drank half of this beer alone then paired up the remainder with some mixed salted nuts. It worked very well both ways. I would absolutely buy this beer again.

Hazy yellow, as expected. Shit head and retention, though.
Banana, bubblegum, a bit of vanilla, and a hint of clove on the nose.
This is about where I want a Hefe! Bready, bananas, apricot, clove, vanilla in that order, with a hint of tartness.
Feels a little thin, and isn't carbonated as much as I like the style.
If they could do something about the head and mouthfeel, this would be dope.
