these guys make cool beer, and if the price points were better i would drink a lot more of it. this is a solid take on the belgian dubbel style, a little lighter than most, not quite as layered, rich, or deep on the malt side of things, a little cleaner in the finish too. its burnt orange color and it has a tall off white head on it with pretty solid retention. the nose here is sweet caramel malts, toffee, raisin, and the spicy belgian yeast that reminds me of allspice and clove, brown sugar sweetness there too. the flavor isnt nearly as sweet as the nose, instead showcasing a cool fruity element, raisin again, orange peel, even a hint of dried cherry here. its smooth and easy drinking, with a much lower abv than we are used to seeing in the style. not hurting for body or bubbles though, it has the right feel for sure. the yeast is milder than expected in the flavor too, orange notes and island spice for a moment, root beer or something, its nice. overall a tasty beer from gravity, all of their beer is good, but their belgian styles seem to be what they do best.
