I do believe this beer has been aged in barrels from the local Widow Jane distillery, which gets its water from the limestone rich caves of the Shawangunk Ridge some 90 miles north.
Dark brown, night black; leather colored head.
Dried pit fruit, sappy wood, spice, figs, chocolate. Reminds me of Christmas to an extent.
Racy body when first released from crowler. Very smooth, velvety feel if a bit thin at this point.
So, I've had this crowler a couple weeks now. When I first sampled it the malt seemed sweeter in comparison. Now I'm detecting a lot more of the rye nuances: chocolate and vanilla tango in a ballroom with marshmallows charring over the fiery earths. I can taste the rough-hewn pine planks of the floor; a splash of fresh citrus to shine them.

2/8/17 poured on draft.
A: Dark chocolate color with a light lace ring.
S: Verry light smells of chocolate, coffee no burbon or alcohol notes
T: Subtle taste of rye on the tounge followed by chocolate malty coffee flavor. Almost no alcohol taste.
F: Very smooth with a good body flavor. Not too thick or creamy.
O: very good beer and could drink this regularly and often especially at 6%. Must have if you get the chance.

Can a low (moderate, actually) ABV barrel-ages stout be a winner? Before sampling this offering, I would have said "no way." After sampling it, I changed my mind and bought a growler fill.
Pours a dark brown color with a finger of tan head. The nose has potent but pleasant notes of whiskey. The flavor has the same whiskey esssence as the nose. The barrel notes blend well with the sweet chocolate flavor. The body is cleary not hearty but it is NOT thin either.
This offering is very well- balanced and super drinkable.
Imagine a barrel aged beer that does not require one to secure an Uber ride to get home safe!
