Bought this a while ago and finally got around to it on this damp spring night. The date on the bottom of the can read 3/10/17 with "SAVE THE CENTAURS" written above though this beer was no laughing matter. Yeah, my can wasn't exactly brewed yesterday but this was a great beer that went down easily and had enough going for it, in spite of how much alcohol was present.

Good pour to this as the beer was a muddled shade of orange marmalade with a large enough head. To my surprise, hardly any lacing was left on the side of my goblet as this was a bit thinner than I would have been led to believe. Lots of candied sugar, apricot, dank stone fruit, and onion in the nose. The taste had all of those with scallions, pineapple, and booze thrown in for good measure. Lots of sticky resin in the mouthfeel with some weed thrown in for good measure, as the carbonation was just a tad low.

This was a bit strong although the alcohol was on par with the flavors and heft of this beer. Not terribly cloudy, there was plenty of dankness here that reminded me of something from Humboldt or Green Flash from the left coast. In the end, this had a wonderful tropical slickness that carried it through and plenty of flavor that held my attention. The name was apt as this took a hold of me and never quite let go, in spite of the underlying murkiness...

Canned on 3/27/18.

A - Very cloudy and hazy with light sticky lacing.

S - Yeasty dank tropical fruit aroma. Pineapple, mango, tangerine, spicy citrus rind, juicy red grapefruit. The nose is dominated by fruit with a slight hint of yeast and no malt aroma whatsoever.

T - All dank, juicy, spicy citrus rind from start to finish. Follows the nose with pineapple, mango, tangerine, sweet red grapefruit. Some malt sweetness pokes through but very, very little. Ends with a lingering tropical fruit sweetness with citrus/pine bitterness.

M - Big medium body with very small, sprightly carbonation that quickly turns silky. Coats the mouth with a healthy layer of tropical spicy resin.

O - Similar to my review for the regular Softly Spoken Magic Spells only this verion is a little more intense.

DDH Pink Floyd, wasn't a huge fan of the regular version as I expected more from them, but let's see how this one does. Canned 3/27/18

Pours a fairly murky candy orange color, a mild fizzy bubbly head that fades quickly but leaves a bit of lacing.

Nose is a bit muted, some citrus and mild tropical notes, little apricot peach stone fruit, little mango and orange, little creamy flaked and sweet malt base, green earthy dank pine and onion as it warms,

Taste starts with dank piney resinous like hops, a little spicy earthy pine, then mild tropical, papaya, little mango, passion fruit, all light, some citrus as well, tangerine, little stone fruit, rind and gritty, fair bitterness, mild sweet creamy flaked malt, toasted as well, with a little tingly alcohol on the tongue, finishes a little sticky sweet, bit more bitterness, lingering rind, bitter spicy piney hops, a little tropical and dankness

Mouth is med bod, pretty creamy, decent carb, just a touch of warming alcohol

Overall this was also a let down, nose was very muted, taste was not the best characters of the hops, finish left a bit to be desired, all around again not their best showing, I think this base beer is just not the best recipe.

16 oz can poured into an imperial nonic.

Appearance
Hazed-out cloudy golden blonde. No light penetration. 1/2 finger of creamy white head.

Nose
Peach, passion fruit, nectarine, dank, pine, wintergreen, oats, and honey.

Taste
Peach smoothie, passion fruit, and nectarine juice. Dank as hell along with pine sap and wintergreen. Light caramel cream, honey, and oat maltiness. Finishes like a mango/papaya milkshake.

Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, juicy, smooth, silky, and lightly sweet with no bitterness.

Overall
Wow! A borderline perfect NEDIPA.
