KIN TO TELL SHAKY & BOXCAR JOE, this is the 7.7% version using the same unique new-varietal PNW as well as a healthy amount of NZ hops for a super smooth, yet intense succession of tropics, bright citrus and dank bud. Automatic Slim is pushing hard for his own version, we’re on it.

Good looker, only some small bit of bubble driven haze, nice white foamy head. Fruit jumps out in the nose, like papaya maybe. Taste has tons of depth as certainly fruity, more mango than anything else. An odd but not off putting brine quality to it, which is to say that there seems to be a little saltiness without tasting salty. Make sense? Finishes with just a splash of bitterness but mostly a seltzer like taste on the tongue. Fairly light bodied for the style making it a real easy drinker

Poured from a tallboy can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Hazed golden orange pour with thick foamy white head. Great lacing.
S: Citrus and fruit. Juicy and tropical.
T.F: Sweet fruit juice up front... loads of citrus and tropicals. Tangerine, grapefruit, and mango. Pineapple and apricot as well, but to me the citrus/orange stands out the most. Sticky/drippy on the mouthfeel. Medium bodied... modest bitterness for balance.
O: Another lush/fruity Singlecut IPA. Hard to differentiate them sometimes but a great beer.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 7/23/2019. Pours very hazy/cloudy deep golden/amber/light orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, red apple, blueberry, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, red apple, blueberry, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, red apple, blueberry, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/resinous/rindy mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.7%. Overall this is a fantastic NEDIPA. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mellowly bitter/resinous/drying finish. Great soft feel, and not overly aggressive. Feels like Motueka, Mosaic, Nelson Sauvin. Extremely juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great balanced wheat/oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example as expected.
