GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT WE'D DO WITHOUT THIS CRUSHABLE LIGHT ALE- A bright and refreshing dry ale, dry-hopped with a blend of classic US and nouveau European buds. Sunny and lemony, with aroma of citrus rind, fresh cut grassy flowers, and a crisp and clean finish- equally at home on the bar or the lawnmower. You can have all the hop you want without having to say those three little letters...

Slightly hazy, yellow color. Big, white head. Grass, flowers, and some citrus in the aroma. Crisp, hoppy taste with strong, refreshing bitterness. A good one.

A very nice lower ABV beer. Crisp, crackers with grassy hops. Some citrus lemon in the aroma. Pours with a slight haze and a white constant thin head. A dry but harsh finish.

Too hoppy for a standard kolsch but still yummy.

On draught at Forest Hills Station House, Queens, NYC.

Pours a clear straw color. A fingernail length head retains well and displays lacing.

In the nose, lots of hops aromatics that are classic citrusy and herbal. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon, pine and grass.

Well hopped and supported by a cracker and bready malt base. Notes of grapefruit, pine, lemon, grass and spicy yeast. The palate is dry overall with a moderate to assertive bitterness.

Light to medium bodied with a mouthfeel that’s in between smooth and crisp. The finish is crisp and dry. The carbonation is moderate to lively.

Nice easy drinking Pale Ale that’s on the hoppy side. I would have again.

Canned on 6/21/21, consumed on 7/1/21 - so this one is nice and fresh at about 10 days old. . . .

A: Poured into a V-shaped wide-mouthed glass. Body is chill-hazed golden yellow with wisp of whitish head on top.

S: Lemony hops over a modest grain/toasty foundation.

T: Light straw/grain malt foundation is followed by Noble hops-type flavors: grassy, lemony (light) bitterness.

M: Light, as appropriate for the style. Modest fine carbonation makes it feel smooth on the palate - no "bite" like you get with some of these Noble Pilsner-type lighter beers.

O: A "clean" Koslch - easy to drink, yet with nice flavors. I anticipate drinking the remaining 3 pints while sitting on the lake this 4th of July weekend. A perfect beer for that situation and a nice curveball from the IPAs I normally consume by the gallon. . . .

Wouldn't it be nice to have a SingleCut beer that was as good as their more famous brews but not quite like them? Indeed, it would be and this would fit that bill! I had no idea this was a Kolsch when I picked it up at Greenpoint's new location recently but Pet Sounds is one of my favorite albums and I was hoping that this would be on par with it's sunny, California feel and thankfully, that would also be the perfect way to describe this!

Lovely look to this as this could have put the "gold" into golden state, without being overly bright. Cloudy like a typical Kolsch, there was plenty of fluffy head topping this off with an uneven, rocky lacing coming down from the top of my pint glass. Tons of lemon, grass, and Noble or Saaz hops in the nose as the taste had some flowers, herbs, and stringy vegetables on top of that. Very little grape here as there's more citrus twang and an outdoorsy feel, which *almost* made this feel like an American Pale Ale. That was because of how crushable it was without feeling sour as the brightness and lemon peppery spick held throughout my session and the carbonation was spot-on without detracting from everything that was going on.

Hardly any booze here, which made this perfect for this time of the year even though I had this during the overnight hours. The "best by" date on the bottom of the can was 10/21 but let's face it, no one's had a good 2020 so far. While this won't solve that, it's impossible not to have a sunny disposition while enjoying this. Pet Sounds changed rock and roll forever and this just might do the same as for what a Kolsch is capable of being, all while triggering a ton of beautifully harmonious emotions. Even with a bit of dark sediment at the bottom of the liquid, I was really impressed with this as it reminded me of why I used to be one of SingleCut's biggest fans. Get this beer if you want to escape for a bit from everything going on in the world today.

I was looking at a few sour beers and had my hands on the Foundation Triple Berry Jam as it was amazing. Then in the corner of my eye, I caught what looked liked the Beach Boys Pet Sounds font! I closer examination showed the label said "Hop Sounds" so I knew that the brewer is a Beach Boys fan. I was sold on that alone, but it is actually a solid beer as well. Brian would be proud!

Look: The Hops Sounds is a hazy, pale yellow with a slowly dissipating head. There is a nice lacing down the glass - I used a16 ounce glass.

Smell: I caught some lemon - but there is a pine or slight grapefruit from the hops.

Taste: Lemon for sure. There are a few other tastes that I cannot identity, but not in a bad way as it is a nice bright taste.

Feel: It definitely has a light feel to the mouthfeel, but it is not lacking feel by any means.

Overall: I really enjoyed this and picked up another 4-pack. This is one of those beers that feels like a day at the beach.

Wouldn't It Be Nice to have a great beer that you can enjoy while listening to you favorite bands at the beach? I was Waiting For The Day - and usually That's Not Me. I just said to Caroline, No - Don't Talk, Put Your Head On My as I'm having a Hop Sounds, because God Only Knows we deserve it.

Pours a rather hazy looking bright yellow with a 1/2 inch of foam. Smells of hops some wheat and a touch of grain. Was drinking it the whole time and assumed it was a dry hopped pale ale but as a German Kolsch it drinks quite great. Never had a dry hopped kolsch so as the first I ever had this beer is tasty. Price was more than fair if found again I would have it for sure!
