Imperial Schwarzbier with cascara and hemp. Brewed in collaboration with KCBC.
Lagered for almost two full months in our horizontal lager tanks, MD is an intensely roasty, chocolatey, crisp, and super dry traditional dark lager, albeit with a QNS/BK twist. For the last month, this beer has sat on some elusive Gold Mountain cascara (the super tasty and unique cherry that grows around coffee beens), imparting the gentlest of complex coffee/berry just on the finish of this very classic, but rich and robust beer. We then consulted the Weedpriests, who demanded we add hemp. We complied. They knew.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down a bit but consistently left a short head covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of chocolate and dark malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and is very chocolatey and has notes of dark malts with hints of roast. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite easy to drink considering its strength and seems more like a traditional Schwarzbier rather than an imperial one. It is a solid beer in the style, but I didn't get any of the cascara or hemp in the smell or taste.

Dark, completely opaque body, with a hint of rustiness that only shows when held against light. Light brown head which leaves a sticky lacing. Bready toasty nose, molasses, a little tangy sweet malt. Taste follows, dry at the beginning, earthy sweet in the middle. Thick mouthfeel.
