NYC Brewers Guild collaboration beer apparently. Label art is strange. I don't know why anyone would put a ring through their septum, but Lady Liberty is the last person that would wear slave jewelry. Eye catching despite the questionable taste.
Very little info on the can but who cares. Actually I do. I like info - if the print is big enough to read and not just the ramblings of someone who likes to hear themselves think.
The color is a dull suede tan, cloudy with a chance of more clouds. Head is perfect -sticky and dense with pockets and rocky crags and lots of dripping lace. Chunks of white trub sits in the bottom of the glass because no I did NOT " decant carefully" as instructed by the can. Cuz'... Liberty baby!.
Aroma is all tangerines and white cake frosting. Some musty notes along with a mild rising dough odor. Nothing bad here just another OJ flavored hop clone thing.
Flavor is "soft" as they say - no bitterness until after the swallow, citrus hop flavors mingle with over sweet under-fermented malt sugars. Nothing new here folks - move along. I mean - it's fine. Whatever. Close your eyes and pick an IPA in a store these days. This will do like most of the others. (sigh...)
Medium mouth feel, again, soft on the tongue but the blend of hop/malt balances well and surrounds the tongue nicely.
Finish is warm and the citrus fades to a grassy, herbaceous bitterness that lingers and draws attention at last to the 7.7%.
