Hazy orange/pink color. Thin, white head. Funky aroma with light notes of dragon fruit and wood. Sour taste with astringent finish. Expected a little bit more.

a bright pink, super bretty and woody wild ale with dragon fruit, how fun! i didnt even know these guys were making this kind of beer, so when i visited their upstate taproom and saw a couple of them i was stoked. this one is solid, i guess done on oak spirals not in barrels, which ive never had an issue with, i assume they pitch some house funky culture and let it ride in stainless with the spirals. the thing thats cool about wooding a beer this way is how intense the flavors and aromas can be, and how quickly this sort of pseudo maturity can be achieved, in this case the beer is both fresh and very wood forward, neat how woody it is being this low alcohol too, and the freshness of the fruit is a neat counterpoint to it, dynamic and delicious overall. the fruit is both tart and sweet, almost kool aid-like to me, juicya nd generically tropical and summery to the max, melted popsicle status but then its all woody and bretty and tart too, really cool. not much grain to this but i dont miss it, some cool citrus nuance in the mix as well orange and lemon to me, and a drying and interesting yeast profile that is definitely on the wild side. bubbly and light to drink, overall unique and delicious. glad to see these guys branching out some in terms of beer styles, this is as good as their hoppy stuff. awesome!
