We love a good birthday, and it’s a big one for our forever pals at Sarene Craft Distributors… TEN YEARS! Ten years of taking care of our beer in NY/NJ/CT, and ten years of being great partners. We got a little sentimental with the milestone, and wanted to collaborate on something that meant a little “extra” to both of us.
We brought back OG Billy IPA!
The beer that would morph, get hazed up, and eventually become what we now know as 18-Watt, was a revelation back in 2012- how could this much flavor fit in a 5% beer? A little drier, a little more resinous, and a touch clearer than modern 18-Watt- this is its own beast, and SUCH a treat to get to sip this more West-Coast influenced version of our classic DNA.

What's interesting about this anniversary version of their Billy beer is that it has a distinct barn oak smell and taste that reminds me of when singlecut opened up! It's a no frills light ale and goes down easy but does have a delayed after drink after taste feel. Other beers of theirs and other local breweries have improved since but this has a nostalgia to it which they hit just right on the reissue. OG indeed.

Unfiltered looking body, but not hazy in the modern sense. Light and shapes come through the yellow gold brown body. Fluffy, only just off-white head leaves 1/8th inch of lave on the top and down the side of the glass. Dank, pine, resin, earth, wet hay, barn, lychee skin, pistachio shell. Taste is melon, resin, pine, dank, lychee, toasted cracker, honeydew. Body is light to medium with medium carbonation. This is so good. This is amazing.
