Maple: base present along with smokey maple. Not super sweet and a great spin on the original.

Pours chestnut in color topped by a finger's worth of khaki suds. Rich aroma smells of roasted malt, peanut brittle, maple syrup, toffee, and toasted bread.
The taste features positively scorched malt and maple syrup up front, succeeded by a wave of ash and earthy hops on the back end. The burnt character was alluded to in the nose but comes through full bore here. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and peanuts impart some complexity to the roasted malt backbone. Medium body and moderate carbonation make for a smooth yet lively mouthfeel.
Overall, this is a tasty porter, even if some of the flavors—including the maple—are a bit unwieldy. I prefer the original, myself.

This is another very good beer in the GDPP series.
The appearance is a really nice dark reddish brown/ black. Has a bit of red bleeding through under the light.
The aroma is a gorgeous bouquet of maple syrup, chocolate, coffee, roast and some bitterness.
The taste is a nice sweet maple syrup blast up front with a mix of roast, coffee, bitter chocolate and a bit of hoppiness.
The palate is nice and smooth with classic porter smoothness that still lingers nicely. A bit of chalky sweetness that reminds me of a traditional porter.
Overall this is a really good porter that I could definitely have a few of lol.

i thought this was awesome, but i always do with maple syrup! i have not had a ton of beer from these guys, so this was a cool one to encounter in my travels. frothy headed and nice and dark from the tap, not too shiny and close to black but still brown to my eye, dense looking but not sludgy or overly viscous it doesnt seem. the maple in the nose is really strong, sweet and natural and high quality, sticky and good, and there is a definite coffee character to it with the dark grain, roasty and bitter but short of burnt or anything, deep though, and layered nicely. the flavor is not quite as prominent on the maple, but it would be hard to match the nose, its so bold there. it is well integrated into the base porter which has a ton of character, well made and tasty even without the maple i would think. the sweetness isnt overwhelming here despite the maple prominence, long finishing through, slight smoke and more coffee there at the end, enough roasty bitterness that this seems balanced to me. nice smooth body too, creamy and full without sitting too heavy. impressive beer in terms of overall quality and deliciously maple forward! not too boozy at all.

Much sweeter of a porter than I expected. The maple almost took on a candied maple flavor in the taste, along with some chocolate, vanilla and brown sugar. Body was way too thin for a porter though, with only the intense maple flavor saving it from the kiss of death label of watery. Smell was maple and malt, and it look like a porter with a little shimmer
