DSLDM is a sunset orange libation. It's grows lighter to darker orange as the glass widens. A pure white head is easy enough to rouse but it falls rather quickly to a collar and skim coat. A few bubbles of carbonation push to the surface. The foam leaves behind some good looking patches of lace.

The nose was caramel malt heavy out of the fridge but with some warmth the caramel as faded to the background while the hop profile has taken over. It's spicy and herbal off the bat with some vague tropical notes popping up in the middle. Orange and grapefruit marmalade make themselves known shortly thereafter. It's a little lactic sweet and pineapple-y. Interesting. It's even a little vegetal at times, celery leaves.. There is complexity to be certain.

The flavor seems to smooth out some of the rough edges found in the nose. Orange marmalade comes through big upfront with secondary herbal and spice notes. It's a little pineapple-y, a little sweet with caramel. Somehow the flavors manage o meld even though they seem so out of place. The caramel maltiness takes command of the malt base. It's a good beer.

The mouthfeel is the best part of DSLDM. The body weighs in around moderate at the most with a supremely smooth and supple mouthfeel. The carbonation is light and easy to get along with. While the beer seems a little sugar-y it's as dry as the Sahara which accentuates the bitterness, reaching a hair over moderate. The mouthfeel of this beer is what makes it so drinkable.

I tend to pick up a goodly amount of Spiteful's IIPA releases. This is probably my least favorite of all I've had, with that said. It's still interesting and good. Would I buy it again? No. Am I enjoying this bottle? Yes.
