6/30/24 - Spiteful Taproom - $8 16 oz, 5.2% ABV. German Pilsner. Taproom notes: Crisp, clean, and clear of bull-shit, this pilsner is brewed with 100% barley malt and finishes dry with a slight herbal note from the Tettnanger hops.
Appearance: draft pour into a nonic glass. Bright white head with thin lacing clinging to all available glass space. Steady heavy carbonation visible through the clear straw golden base. Looks great beyond not served in a Pilsner glass. 4.25
Aroma: Bready salt, pepper, cracker, traditional Pilsner aroma cones through loud and clear, enticing. 4.0
Taste: Cracker, salt and mineral water. Tasted a bit muted with the carbonation front and center. OK 3.25
Mouthfeel: Heavy carbonation first impression, adds depth to the otherwise light body. Dry and bitter overall, consistent with the Spiteful MO, mineral water cracker finish. 3.5
Overall: This is an ok offering, enjoying certain aspects but the carbonation and heavily dry nature of this makes it a departure from a typical Pilsner. Will pick other offerings next time. 3.25
