Hopped with Mosaic, Cascade, and Simcoe for bright citrus and a touch of pine, balanced by a sturdy malt canvas of Brewers and Caramel 80 malt. Built for winter, long nights, and the slow realization that it's not over

2/8/26 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Purchased refrigerated on February 5, 2026 at Beer on the Wall for $2.84 including tax. 12 oz canned December 8 @ 11:05:29. 6.0% ABV, Red IPA - Resinous, Ruby, Eerie. Brewed with Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. Brewed & canned at Spiteful Brewing, 2024 W. Balmoral Ave., Chicago, Illinois.
Appearance: Poured about 8 ounces into a Spiteful nonic pint glass, yielding a very generous creamy lightly tan white head that lingers a very long time, yields clumpy lacing and a creamy cover over the crystal bronze red base with medium plus sustained carbonation. This looks great! 4.5
Aroma: Strong pine and pine, caramel, raisins and dates back well, the entire aroma very enticing. 4.5
Taste: Malt leads slightly in this area, with caramel, pumpernickel light raisins flexing over the citrus and lighter pine than the aroma leads. The aroma was intense, whereas this is more mellow but still flavorful. 4.25
Mouthfeel: Really nice full medium perceptively creamy body. Drinks about at the listed 6% ABV, persistent but gentle carbonation. Slightly dry, balanced with sweet flavors balanced by a strong hops presence Spiteful is known for. Caramel citrus pine finish. 4.25
Overall: This is a very good Red IPA. Thought it would be hop heavy based on Spiteful's reputation, but this came through consistent with the style and despite my preference of hops over malt, the malt lead here works very well. Spiteful seems to work hard to master any style they plan on taking on, and this brand new selection is likely the best Red IPA I have had a chance to try. Thank you Spiteful Brewery! 4.5
