This is actually called "Aerial American Rye Brown." On tap at the tasting room in San Diego on 30th Street.
Dark amber with a modest white foam. Crazy deep scratchy taste. It's like a double imperial Rye, even though it's not very strong with alcohol. Harsh bitter aftertaste seems to go with the flavor bomb.
Spicy, burnt, sharp, woody-- and terminally bitter. It's not a grapefruit peel bitter, it's more of a total charcoal grain flavor. Still, it's quite interesting, and when the burn fades you want another sip of this sweet and wacky brew.
