May 30th, 2015 - At a somewhat aggressive 6.7%, the Breakline Bock is a good finisher after some of the cleaner beers at Rip Current. The aroma is a lighter malt bill with some mashed apple sweetness, and the sweeter side of sauerkraut. I even detect a little apple cider vinegar. The foretaste is cleaner with some good chocolate notes, like cream, crisp and gourmet milk chocolate, or Aero. There's also some perfectly time banana esters. Surprisingly sweet and deep but still crisp from the lager style, this packs a lot of flavor without being overwhelming.

Lovely brown beer with excellent nose. Lots of dark bread and touch of raisins on the nose. Taste follows the nose with excellent yeast character. Mouth feel takes the beer over the top. Really solid beer.

Had on tap at Rip Current brew pub in San Marcos during 2015 Beer Safari along 78 corridor. Thought was an excellent traditional bock bier. It was bready and correctly featuring a bit of a syrupy maltiness with hints of roasty grain, dried dark fruit and overripe banana. Where it stands out was the super clean crisp lager body. It drank so well and really showed off a classic German brewing approach. Really well done!

Brewery calls this "Break Line Traditional Bock." Tasted on tap at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach. Rich, red-brown color with plenty of foam in the pint shaker.
A roasty and syrupy taste, the typical sweet, dark bock. Some caramel with a burnt sugar finish. Even a hint of maoasses. Plus the resiny back-of-the-throat taste. Very little bitterness, but there's a dark, spicy note in the aftertaste. Quite drinkable in the roasted malt tradition.

Pours an amber color with an off white head. Aromas and flavors are like an amazing bakery or bread basket; tons of breads, crust, and hints of sweetness and dried dark fruits and overripe bananas. Delicately creamy and medium amount of carbonation to cleanse the palate. Incredible bock by these guys.
