Cool new one from these guys. Soft pinkish purple in color, a little thin looking, but quite a pretty hue. Aroma has quite a bit of funk to it and a cleaner sort of acidity, not super wild, but definitely interesting. The fruit is a touch sweet but very authentic I to the blackberry itself in the nose, but much drier and less jammy in the flavor, a little further back maybe, but really juicy and fresh. The fruit and the acid work great together, and this comes across much lighter than similarly designed beers. Part of that is the lightness of the grain, there really is very little malt character to this at all, and while I don't really miss it, that aspect makes it as much juice as it is beer. I have not had much from these guys and don't know anything about them, but this was a really well done brew with very bright fresh blackberry character and not too much sourness. Well designed and well executed, I could see a similar see beer working well with other delicate and tricky fruits for brewers like strawberry, kiwi, and melon...
