December 5th, 2015 - I haven't seen this beer at Rip Current since this fateful day in December, but the Lupulin Lust is somehow an improvement on the core Lupulin Lust recipe. The color is a beautiful mahogany brown with a touch of amber, and the aroma is big and bold. Filled straight to the top, there's no filter between me and the spicy and peppery scent, suffused with saffron and corn bread, and packed with hearty images and poignant hops. The flavor lets the hops leap up and down unfettered by cloying sweetness, but instead a touch of grapefruit and some strong alcohol notes. There's also an ineffable savory and peppery taste here that I remember from the nose, and which matures nicely as the beer warms. It is another quintessential Rip Current release, and puts a well crafted twist on their classic.
