April 12th, 2015 - Light amber and brown in color, with a touch of foam, the Tube Rye-Der is a low-key looking beer. The scent is lightly hoppy and just a little rusty like the flavor, with just a shade of the rye making its appearance in both the nose and flavor. Approachable, easy to drink, and finely balanced, this nicely reflects Rip Current's talent for finely tuned brews.

Clear golden and light amber. Small ring of near-white foam. Spotted and some lined stick left down the glass.

Lots of piney and citrus hop character throughout, along with a bit of spiced biscuit.

Flavor is similar to the aroma, along with a moderate level of bitterness. Very drinkable. Biting and complementary citrus and spiced biscuit notes, along with some pine. Clean, discernible flavors. Really enjoyed this.

Medium bodied with crisp, high carbonation.

Fantastic. Really enjoyed this. Up there with some of my favorite Rip Current offerings. Tons of flavor for a relatively low ABV IPA.

6oz pour – 03/16/13

A: Pours a light golden blonde body with a slight burnish look and good clarity. Nice effervescence with a low brim of off-white head. Leaves some light dots of cling down the glass.

S: Aroma is very floral with a light honey-like sweetness to it. There is a pleasant orange -citrus twist to it as well. Not incredibly pungent by any means however enjoyable none the less.

T: Taste is soft and delicate with a strong floral feature. There is a lesser amount of citrus character coming through and a light honey cracker sweetness to the beer. Bready almost with a very subtle peppery spice. Low perceived bitterness overall with a kick of dry-hopping that is just enough to leave a nice little resinous pucker. Null of any alcohol here as to be expected. Very light and on the sweeter side. Nice session ale but a bit plain jane for me.

M: Super light in body with a nice even texture and fair amount of carb. Has a nice little pucker and a crisp snap on the finish with a bit of lingering hoppy residue. Leaves a very clean feel overall.

D: Flavors are a nice mixture of florals, citrus, and malty sweetness. Pretty mellow however this does make for a nice warm up beer.
Delivers on the name with it’s sessionability. Could easily crush an entire growler of this.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and slight herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with a herbal hop flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a very herbal hop forward flavor.

Poured a nice golden color with about an inch of white foam, with pretty good retention and lacing throughout the glass. Smell: Well, this is the West Coast, and draft only selections reek of piney and citrus goodness; I didn't spot a lot of rye, so it is rather subdued. Flavor follows the nose; mouth-feel is medium bodied, pleasantly carbonated, and as dry as you'd expect for a nice drinkable West-Coast style IPA. Overall, a very nice draft selection to start a night of craft exploring from an excellent new local brewery.
