A barrel aged weizenbock? Ok, I'm game... Had a 0.25l draft pour at Beerlovers Bar in Antwerp on 30SEP17, for €5.00.

It was a clear, deep mahogany, with scattered, fine carbo. Had a creamy beige head which drew back slowly, leaving behind excellent lacing. Nose was of dark fruit, sherry and some banana. Was a touch thin in the body, with ample prickle roughing things up.

As for the taste, banana is there, with light fruitiness. Has a hint of cherry, a smidge of choco, and some vinous qualities. Had a lightly tart aspect to it, not like any rich, dark fruit. It was the last of the keg, so maybe that affected the flavor. Still a solid offering. Prosit!

Bottle. Beautifull beer imo. Deep brown/red almost mogany color, nice big creamy head that stays there till the last sip. Smell is yeasty mixed with a bit of sherry barrel. Taste is almost everything you see written on the bottle: some smoked (coming from the smoked banana maybe?), figs under the palate, some hint of that surgarness from the dates, not much from the two kind of nuts, good dose of malt and bitterness; calls from another sip, very good. mid carbonation, medium body. I'm usually not into infused beers but liked this one quite a lot, very rich beer. Another one!

Label description sounds like it has a lot of going on. A sherry barrel aged weizendoppelbock infused with smoked bananas, walnuts, pecans, dates and figs.

Builds a massive head that dissipates slowly and never really fades. Hazy brown red body, a nice looking beer.

Aroma is of pecans, bananas, sherry vinegar and some alcohol.

Taste is predominantly of bananas and winter spices. Finish is quite dry and tart.

The body is quite thin, which In my opinion doesn't blend particularly well with the sherry barely aging.

Not a bad beer but just doesn't come together in the way other barrel aged beers I've tried can.
