bottle at the brewery. Nice amber color, 1 finger off white creamy head; smell is KO, almost no hops here; taste is ok, good bitternes and decent grassy notes; medium body and mid carbonation. overall ok but maybe not the right batch.

Darker than the del Ducato Machete, more resinous with an absolutely calm, caramel notes in there.

33cl brown bottle purchased from Domus Birrae, for no other reason than that I liked the label. I'm probably a sucker like that.
Pours a rather deep, slightly hazed amber hue, with golden inflections on the end. Head is an off-white, fine crest of oily bubbles that settles nicely and forms rings of lace. Body is pretty light, but the carbonation is fine. Overall, it looks pretty good.
Nose is disappointingly weak, as though hops were on the agenda, but they didn't really ramp them up enough. Faint sweet citrus, a solid, slightly nutty malt basis, and some faint herbal overtones, but there's not much going on overall. It's still nice, but nowhere near powerful enough for an IPA.
Taste is also fine, without inspiration. Clean, malt-heavy front-palate, chewy with grain and nuttiness, and fortunately not overpowering on the sweetness. Hops do a fair job of balancing, giving a slight citric bitter edge, but no true IPA crispness. Finish has some dried orange peel and lemon leaf bitterness to it that lingers a little, but again it's slightly too restrained.
Feel is pretty good. Fairly full, and providing a solid basis of support that is underutilised.
Overall. It's fine. But it's not a truly really great IPA—while it's drinkable enough for the most part, it doesn't really extend itself beyond the bare necessities. But you should feel free to grab it if, like me, the label appeals.
