A:
Opens with a bang and pours a murky mahogany with a billowing puff of cinnamon whipped cream. Very good retention; swooping lacing. (4)
S:
Juniper and earthy citrus oil with some charred/roasted notes underneath. (3.25)
T:
Like licking the ground under a juniper bush. (3)
M:
Thin body with over-active carbonation and a shellac-y finish. (3)
O:
An all right beer but nothing to write home about.
It pours very nice. The aroma is resiny bitter hops and some roast notes as it warms. The flavor is kind of a version of this but seems hollow and has a kind of harsh edge on the hops and malt combination present in the aroma. It is too thin and the malt flavor isn't soft enough or present enough for it to really stand out. (2.75)
